Pair of 19th-Century Marble-Top Stands

Pair of dramatic, late 19th-century marble-top stands with scroll-cut walnut bases.

The bold foliate silhouettes of the bases are clearly influenced by Rococo design language.

Two-inch-thick marble tops, shaped along their edges. Original dark varnished surfaces overall.

Dimensions

Marble top” 14.5″ x 14.5″ x 2″ thick. Overall: 35″ tall x 16.5″ deep (measured depth of feet)

Condition

Wear and condition as expected with age. Break and loss of one toe (pictured). One marble top has what seems to be a natural fissure. The other marble top seems to have had an old chip smoothed resulting in a slight irregularity along one edge. Both stands are sturdy.
