And while the title “Specific Gravity of Metals” is a pretty catchy thing in itself, the text that follows using an “iron bomb” as the example for algebraic extrapolation.

“What is the weight of an iron bomb shell of 3 inches thick, the greatest diameter being 16 inches(?)”

And then there are the tails on a few of those numbers (check out the “2” and “8” on the first line of the lower calculation… Magnificent!

Page itself measures 7-1/2 x 12 inches. It’s top-mounted on archival board and re-framed under glass in a circa 1860’s gilded frame. Overall measurements are listed below.
