Miniature Folk Art Cottage Model

On offer is this 1930s folk art miniature model of an American cottage or bungalow style home with scalloped overhang moldings at front and back and even a little porch for someone to sit on.

Measuring only 5-inches tall and 9-inches deep it’s definitely the smallest I’ve had the pleasure of handling.

I’ve written about these buildings before but it merits repeating here that these were not doll houses, bird houses, toy train or “Christmas” houses as they share almost none of the qualities that were virtual requirements for those forms. Instead they were pursuits of craft and entertainment and perhaps born from a need/want to document a house or building of popular or personal importance.
