Wonderful document box in salmon-colored paint with a shaped top of a form for which I cannot find a proper descriptor… coffin, violin, saddle, wavy?
Unusually configured interior with one piece of bent wood held in tension front to back and two other loosely fitted dividers.
Tongues on either end of the box to keep the top properly aligned.
The newspaper that lines the box is almost certainly not original, as it exhibits no surface wear or losses.
T-head nails throughout. The key is a working replacement.
Found in central New York State.
