Original design inspired by the Indian artistic tradition of kolam: visual charms drawn on the ground near the entrances of homes and businesses using colored powders or chalks.
Those ephemeral materials require that the drawings (some with long family histories) be recreated daily—a small price to pay for the tremendous good fortune that comes from their presence.
All metallic colors are the result of a technique called “bronzing.” In bronzing, dry pigment colors are applied to fresh ink with a brush before the ink has had the opportunity to dry. While labor-intensive, to me, the method is superior to printing with metallic inks because of the resulting soft finishes, transparency, and possibility of color-shifting and iridescent effects.
Though dark, gel pens (I’ve tested Sakura Gelly Roll with success) work very well on this card stock.
