“Grandmother’s Dream” Quilt

Superbly graphic quilt with overall diamond pattern in sober gray/brown/blue color palette. Constructed of suiting-wool squares, the closest pattern name match that I’ve been able to find is “Grandmother’s Dream” (“New Discoveries in American Quilts” Bishop, p39).

I have to say that the brighter blues that really define this pattern are unusual choices.

Plaid flannel backing fabric.

Tied at each block intersection with red and green wool yarn.

“Feather” embroidery stitch in dark red around the entire perimeter.

Dimensions

72 inches wide x 74 inches tall

Condition

Two very small holes: one at left edge on striped dark blue fabric and another along right edge on striped light blue fabric. Moisture stain on a gray square which was probably on the fabric before assembly as it doesn't appear on the adjacent blue square.s
