Blown Empoli clear green āVerdeā glass vase in the form of a Venetian renaissance glass beaker.
Applied studded band and folded foot.
While a classical form and overall fineness usually indicates an early 20th-century manufacture date, this piece was probably made in the 1950s. The number of these fine pieces from that period is relatively small in comparison to the heavier āmodernā forms that the Empoli factories became known for.
The centuries-old trademark green color of Empoli glass results from the iron content of the local sand used to make the glass.
Rough pontil.
