Description
Love the contrasting forms of grid and disks in this quilt pattern, one that's at least colloquially known as "Snowball."
Plum-colored cardstock with hand-applied gold and copper metallic colors.
All colors are hand-applied after printing, a technique called bronzing. In this case, the colors are metallic and their dry pigment powders are laid onto colorless ink with a brush before the ink has the opportunity to dry. While labor-intensive, the method is – to me – preferable to printing with metallic inks because of the resulting soft finishes, transparency and potential for color-shifting and iridescent effects.
