Snowball, Gold & Copper on Plum Letterpress Cards, Package of Six (6)

Original design inspired by the contrasting forms of grid and disks in the quilt pattern colloquially known as “Snowball.”

Plum-colored cardstock with metallic gold and copper colors.

All metallic colors are the result of a technique called “bronzing.” In bronzing, dry pigment colors are applied to fresh ink with a brush before the ink has had the opportunity to dry. While labor-intensive, to me, the method is superior to printing with metallic inks because of the resulting soft finishes, transparency, and possibility of color-shifting and iridescent effects.
